Tips to manage the new normal – Covid 19 and At-Home Learning

Experts predicted that Covid-19 would take time to eradicate. Well, it was very difficult for people experiencing a pandemic for the first time to believe it can lock us at home- not for days, months, but years. Education is one of the most affected sectors in this pandemic. Schools were shut down, and this created panic among parents and students. Thanks to technological developments, schools across India and the world managed to conduct online classes and continued the academic sessions. The new normal study from home added lots of tasks to parents’ bucket. Now, another big challenge was for parents to make children study efficiently at home. Most parents are still figuring out the right way to help children study from home. If you are also keen to know the best practices for at-home learning, we are here to help. Sanskruti World School, the best CBSE School in Palghar, Boisar, understands your challenges. We have curated a list of tips to follow to make at home learning bliss for your children.

Tips to manage the new normal -Covid 19 and At-Home Learning

Limit digital time
The first step towards constructive learning is limiting childrens’ digital time. Consider limiting their tablets, mobile phone’s access until satisfactory schoolwork is done. This will help your child in paying more attention towards study. The apps, messages, notifications are distracting at times. For children, it is okay to stay away from gadgets while they are doing homework. Give them laptops and tablets for online classes, but try to limit games, apps, etc.

Create a dedicated space for learning
Your children need a quiet, clean, comfortable space for learning. Ideally, it is advised to have a dedicated set-up for learning, away from the games area, television, gadgets. We strongly recommend making the space comfortable (ideally with a study table and orthopaedic chair) as they will be spending the most time at this dedicated learning space.

Monitor their online interests
With gadgets and internet availability, parenting has become more complex. In this new learning era, you must monitor your children’s interests and engagement and help them adapt to their new at-home schedules and activities. Look at what makes your children happy when they are playing or surfing online. It can also help you restrict the content they are intentionally or unintentionally consuming. Exposure to some worldly concepts should follow its course of time. Check if their surfing requires parental control.

Encourage them to learn with fun
Trust us; only texts with some diagrams, images are boring for children. When in school, they get a chance to learn through various activities. However, the current situation is not feasible to go to school. This calls for some parenting engagement to make learning fun. You can encourage children with creative puzzles, drawing, quiz competitions, or treasure hunts. Make them do activities that help in understanding concepts better.

Take good care of health
We are living in an era where health is at risk for the masses. It is very important to take care of kids and youngsters. You must limit your child’s outdoor exposure for a while. Eat healthy foods, include vitamin-c in their meals, and encourage them to exercise. A healthy body will help your child stay focused and feel good about themselves.

Final Note
There is no one way to raise kids. Every parenting style is different and has its pros and cons.

Right now, we all are at home to fight against covid-19, and this fact itself means that health and education both need to be in coordination for the betterment of the next generation. Being the best primary school in Palghar, Boisar, we have always abided by the covid norms and urge parents to take these small steps to make children’s at-home learning years productive!
